MARIJUANA SIGNS 'SENDING BAD MESSAGE'

Abbotsford's Conservative Party candidate Randy White says
unauthorized signs erected by the Marijuana Party have caused
"unreasonable voter confusion on the issue.

"These signs are demanding that both Randy White and Mayor Mary Reeves
legalize marijuana, a position opposed by me, personally,'' said White.

"However, some people seem to be interpreting these signs as my
endorsement of legalizing marijuana. That could not be further from
the truth.

"It is my understanding that these signs are not legal under the
Elections Act, but no one is taking the responsibility to remove them,
and that is truly unfortunate.''

White said he wants to make it clear that he does not support the
legalization of marijuana and it will not happen "as far as I am concerned.

"These signs are doing nothing but sending a bad message to our young
people - a message I've spent 10 years trying to thwart. Becoming a
candidate in a federal election brings with it a responsibility for
reasonableness and integrity, not just debating time. These signs are
deliberately misleading the public and should be taken down,'' said
White.
