VOTING RIGHTS

To the editor:

In response to recent stories about signatures lost for the marijuana
petition drive: I am outraged that I may be one of the disenfranchised
voters who signed the petition to regulate marijuana in Nevada. My
vote should be counted.

I also find it ridiculous that in the Internet Age, when I am able to
do all my banking online and perform countless transactions via secure
Web sites, I am not able to sign a petition to get a legal initiative
on the ballot. Requiring petition canvassers to go door to door or
fight the authorities at the DMV to collect signatures is like voting
in the Stone Age.

It is time to reform the initiative process to reflect the state of
technology and really let the people have a voice and vote.
