ESSENTIAL TO OUR SAFETY

I was amazed to read letter writers agreeing with Judge Ellen Gordon's
decision to make border guards follow all the Charter of Rights rules.

That's absolutely ridiculous.

Don't they realize that border guards are not only searching us, they
are searching Americans and Mexicans attempting to enter into Canada?
Many of these people are entering illegally or are carrying contraband.

I've been searched several times. And, although it is inconvenient, if
you have nothing to hide, it is not a big deal.

Our border guards' right to carry out random searches is essential to
our safety and to crime-fighting in our country.
