US DRUG POLICY INFRINGES ON PERSONAL FREEDOM
Kudos for your outstanding editorial: "Peyote ruling a victory for the
First Amendment."
I'd like to add that when the government has the authority to decide which
religious practices are "valid" and which ones are not, we no longer have a
free country.
It seems to me that adult citizens of a so-called free country should be
free to smoke, swallow, snort or inject any substance that they want,
especially in the privacy of their own home -- as long as they are
personally responsible for the consequences.
A free country's government cannot protect adult citizens from themselves
and a free country's government has no legitimate authority attempting to
do so.
A free country should be just that -- a free country.
