TURMOIL RULES AT POLICE ASSOCIATION'S HQ

Toronto's police union is in turmoil after two of its top executives
quit in the wake of internal probes into alleged corruption in the
central drug squad and 52 Division's plainclothes unit. - Sept. 21,
Toronto Police Association will hold elections to fill two openings
left by the resignations of president Rick McIntosh, who faces Ontario

who faces no charges. A third executive faces charges but remains a
director.

- - July 5, Chief Julian Fantino announces five more officers face 53
discipline charges under the act.

- - July 5, Clarke quits as the union's uniform administrative services
director, citing workload-related health reasons.

accusing them of abandoning Consts. McIntosh and Mike McCormack.

and two other cops at 32 Division, where each faced conspiracy and
corruption charges.

Jamie McCormack of 53 Div., sends a private e-mail to 60 fellow
officers demanding directors of the association and rank-and-file cops
support his brother remaining on the board. He complains of "innuendo"
and leaked information to the media, saying the slurs wrongly
connected the separate investigations of his two brothers.

- - April 24, Mike McCormack is notified by fellow association directors
that he has three days to step down as a director because of
allegations of criminal wrongdoing.

- - April 18, McIntosh temporarily resigns as president.

- - April 15, Toronto Police internal affairs office tell McIntosh he is
being investigated for involvement in a downtown entertainment
district protection racket and for allegedly frequenting an illegal
mob-run gambling den in Vaughan.

- - April 15, William McCormack Jr. is suspended from duty after the 52
Division detective is charged with criminal offences related to
shakedowns of bar owners and prostitutes in exchange for tips about
police raids.
