MARC EMERY, CRIMINAL OR HERO?

In writing about the Marc Emery extradition, Colby Cosh is completely
wrong to state that "the U.S. is using the technical presence of an
unenforced law on our books to carry its drug war onto our soil."

The rule of law is all that separates us from the savages. The law
outlawing the sale of marijuana seeds was put on the books by
politicians who thought it was right thing to do. Extradition is
merely a treaty allowing countries to enforce their laws, on citizens
or others who have broken them.

Mr. Emery was gaming the system, selling in Canada as well as the
United States. Mr. Emery was hiding in Canada while making most of his
profit in sales to the much larger U.S. market.
