ECSTASY ACTUALLY METH

The Comox Valley RCMP is warning people that drugs sold as ecstasy could
contain methamphetamine or crystal meth.

A few months ago an RCMP street crew seized drugs that were being sold as
ecstasy and sent them to the lab. The lab results came back showing the
tablets contained crystal meth.

When you buy something, you may not know what is in it; it could contain
heroin, LSD or crystal meth, said Const. Max Fossum. "Crystal meth can be
as addictive as heroin," Fossum said. "The problem is how much you take,
and what is going to be in it."

Fossum said even if the ecstasy didn't contain extra drugs, it could be
fatal. "You can definitely overdose," he said.

Meanwhile, a man will be charged with two counts of possession for the
purpose of trafficking after RCMP carried out a search warrant on Swallow
Crescent in the early hours on Saturday morning.

Police found 200 tablets, presumed to be ecstasy, as well as marijuana and
cocaine at the residence. There were about 500 grams of marijuana and small
quantities of cocaine, he said.
