PARENTS NEED TO SET EXAMPLE

The people who use the phrase "drugs and alcohol" should give their
heads a shake. Alcohol is a drug and is well known as one of the most
destructive drugs on the planet. When you try to separate the two you
are only fooling yourself and your kids. Whenever I see an injured
person I ask them if they were drinking alcohol and the answer is
usually yes.

But lets not stop there. How many parents have stated that "I need my
morning coffee to get going?" If you are one of these "must have my
coffee" people, you are a drug addict and your kids may be well aware
of your problem.

How many parents shut their kids up with a sugar treat? Sugar has no
nutritional value and gives the user an up feeling for a short while.
Isn't that exactly what drugs do? Do I need to mention tobacco?

The real problem is the hypocrite parent who denounces drugs then gets
drunk, drinks coffee, smokes butts, or shows that they have no control
over sugary foods in front of their children.

One of the big changes in this town since 1989 (the year I moved here)
is that we've gone from one liquor store and two beer and wine stores
to four liquor stores. What kind of message is this sending to our
youths?

So until the parent is drug free (legal or illegal) the kids will just
emulate them because the parents are the mentors and the kids are akin
to sponges and will soak up all that is around them. So if you are
wondering how to solve the drug problem, which includes alcohol, clean
up your own act and teach your children a wholesome lifestyle. Being
extremely healthy is a better feeling than any drug will give you.
