3 JAIL GUARDS POSITIVE OF DRUGS
CEBU CITY - The warden of the Cebu Provincial Detention and
Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) said yesterday three of his jail guards
were found positive of drug use. CPDRC warden Ivy Verallo told
reporters that the jail guards, whose names were withheld, were found
positive of drugs based on the surprised drug test conducted in the
provincial jail last month. Verallo said the three jail guards do not
know the results of the surprise drug test yet but he will be calling
their attention immediately and inform them of the charges that will
be filed based on the results of the test. The surprise drug test,
Verallo said, was ordered by then Cebu Gov. Pablo Garcia who received
information about the alleged rampant illegal drug trade inside the
provincial jail. The report linked several jail guards to the alleged
drug trade, Verallo said.
