DON'T BLAME CORONA

It is interesting that so many attended the Corona City Council
meeting to protest the marijuana dispensary closure.

The Press-Enterprise reported: "Federal drug agents raid pot
dispensary" (July 18) and "Feds cast wide net in pot-dispensary blitz"
(July 19). It was a federal government agency -- the Drug Enforcement
Administration -- enforcing federal law, not the Corona Police
Department enforcing state law. The federal agency will always ask the
local jurisdiction to be present during a raid, but that doesn't shift
the burden to the local agency. It's still the Drug Enforcement
Administration's party. Corona simply received an invitation.

If you're upset about federal law and the actions of a branch of the
federal government, doesn't it make sense to complain to the feds?

I'll provide an illustration. It wouldn't be different than demanding
answers from the City Council about the federal tax laws the Internal
Revenue Service enforces. I don't blame the council members. How can
they provide answers or respond to something done by the feds?
