ONE DRIVER NAILED AT SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT
SUMMIT COUNTY - Only one driver was arrested for driving under the
influence during a sobriety checkpoint last Friday.
The Sheriff's Office regularly uses such checkpoints to educate
drivers about the dangers of drinking and driving and to reduce the
number of motor vehicle accidents in which alcohol or drugs is a
contributing factor.
Such checkpoints aid in the detection, apprehension and deterrence of
drivers who are impaired or are under the influence of an intoxicating
liquor or drugs. Saturday's checkpoint was set up between Farmer's
Korner and Breckenridge. More than 180 vehicles entered the checkpoint
between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m.
