MARIJUANA OPERATION COMES UP EMPTY

ONTONAGON -- A Michigan Air National Guard RAID unit flew over the
Ontonagon area looking for suspected marijuana growing operations
Thursday but came up empty.

Ontonagon County Sheriff John Gravier said the search included past
known growing areas and places received on tips from local citizens on
the county drug hotline, 884-4900.

"The search revealed no major growing operations and information
gathered during the search will be investigated by local law
enforcement officers," Gravier said.

Participating were county deputies, U.S. Forest Service personnel and
Michigan Department of Natural Resources conservation officers.
