SHOP A DEALER - TENANTS ARE TOLD

Cheltenham residents are being urged to "shop a drug dealer".

Cheltenham Borough Homes wants details of people who are sell heroin or
crack cocaine from its houses or flats.. The organisation has pledged to
pass on their details to police and evict them.

But CBH needs residents to come forward with details of drugs activity.

The moves are the latest part of a drugs crackdown launched a year ago.

It has already resulted in one family being evicted from a home in St
Paul's for dealing.

Proceedings on an alleged dealer in Hester's Way have also begun.

A hearing is due to go ahead at Cheltenham County Court next month.

Stephen Emery, a housing solicitor and head of safer estates for CBH, said:
"One of our priorities is to deal with the issue of tenants dealing drugs
from council homes.

"This does a lot of damage to the community.

"We're determined to do what we can to stop dealing from the properties we
manage and to improve the quality of life of tenants.

"If any tenant is suffering from drug-related problems, we would like them
to come forward.

"We want to claim back the community for those who want a decent
environment to live in."

CBH said reports of drugs activities would be treated in strict confidence.

It hopes residents will let officers into their homes to monitor any
suspicious behaviour in their area.

Officers can use the evidence without having to disclose where they were
watching from.

CBH is also offering support to people who have suffered drug dealing near
their homes.
