AGLIPAY BEEFS UP WAR AGAINST ILLEGAL DRUGS AFTER UN REPORT
THE Philippine National Police (PNP) has strengthened its campaign against
traffickers of illegal drugs following a United Nations report that the
country is among the top three sources of shabu in the world after Myanmar
(formerly Burma) and China.
Deputy Director General Edgardo B. Aglipay, who is also concurrent head of
the Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force, said the UN findings
should serve as a wake-up call to the government.
Aglipay assured the people that there would be no letup in the fight
against the illegal drugs trade.
Just last week, Aglipay's men raided a shabu warehouse in Villa Liwayway
Subdivision, Maysan, Valenzuela City, confiscating 147 drums of assorted
chemicals used in making shabu, two high-capacity driers and other
shabu-processing equipment.
The warehouse could have easily produced as much as 30,000 kilos of shabu
had its operations not been dismantled by the raid, according to the police.
The raid is only the latest in a string of successes racked up by the PNP's
special task force against illegal drugs.
Aglipay is one of the contenders for the PNP's top post.
