BIGGEST `MISTAKE': EVADING POLICE
The recent articles about the ``series of mistakes'' resulting in the
shooting death of Rudy Cardenas lead me to believe a lot of people can
find fault in anything. But the biggest ``mistake'' is rarely
reported: Don't run from the law.
If Cardenas had stopped, presented himself in the proper manner, and
showed proper ID when asked, would his untimely death have happened?
I am not a police officer so I can't determine if the shooting was
proper; let the legal minds figure that out. But, I was raised to obey
the law. If a police car pulls behind me and turns on the lights, I
pull to the right and stop and listen. I know my rights, I can remain
silent until adequate legal counsel is gained, and I can always take
my case to court and be judged by my peers.
