DRUG PUSHERS' DEATH NOT SALVAGING: OBRERA FPM

URDANETA -- City Police Director Manuel Obrera brushed aside speculation
that the killings of some drug pushers in the city the past days were
summary executions.

He said there is now scarcity in the supply of shabu causing an internal
squabble among members of drug groups because they try to outsmart each other.

Obrera said some want out of a certain group and that resulted to either
group trying to cancel each other out.

"The price of shabu is high and yet the shabu they sell or give to their
members is adulterated as confirmed by the police crime laboratory
examination result on some of the confiscated drugs," he said.

Obrera said there is no intelligence report indicating that the killed drug
personalities were summarily executed so that they would no longer testify
in court.

A man believed to be involved in illegal drugs was shot dead while walking
on a street at the Dona Loling Subdivision in Barangay Nancayasan here
Tuesday night.

The victim had been identified as Florido dela Cuz, a resident of Barangay
Cabaruan in this city.

He sustained five gunshot wounds in various parts of his body.

As to a report that some policemen are involved in illegal drug activities
in the city, Obrera said that remains to be seen. "We are yet conducting an
investigation on the report and gathering evidence," he said.
