SCIENCE NEEDED
Editor, The Star:
The latest science indicates that people suffering from schizophrenia
have extremely high levels of endocannabinoids, marijuana-like
compounds that our bodies use. Based on the known properties of
cannabis and cannabinoids, the brains of schitzophrenics may be
producing endocannabinoids to protect the brain from some other
biochemical imbalance, as it does for head injury and strokes.
Marijuana has tremendous medical potential with numerous applications.
No medicine is good for all, depending on the individual. Marijuana
use is harmless to most.
Too bad laws sacrifice benefits for the majority for presumed
protection of the minority. Education would be better.
