A suspected drug supplier in Bacolod City was killed in a shootout in
Davao City Saturday.
Senior Supt. Vicente Ponteras, Bacolod Police director, yesterday said
George Bachoco of Bacolod City, was killed by Davao PNP operatives
when he resisted arrest Saturday night. Ponteras said Bachoco was a
big time supplier of shabu in Bacolod City and has a network of drug
couriers and pushers operating in Bago and Bacolod cities.
Ponteras said the death of Bachoco will reduce the supply of shabu in
these cities.
Bachoco was earlier pin pointed by drug pusher, Renante Nasis, 41, of
Purok Boulevard, Barangay 16, as the one who supplied him with about
200 grams of shabu, which was recovered from him during a stakeout
operation by Provincial police and Bacolod Police at the Sta. Clara
Subdivision, Barangay Banago, Bacolod.
Bachoco reportedly gets his drugs from Manila and used to reside in
Dulao, Bago City.
Meanwhile, the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group
and the 603rd PNP Maritime Command arrested Lolita Ballesteros Tanez,
70, widow of B-42L-7 Datu Esmael, Dasmarinas Cavite, and Aida Ledona
Descutido, 52, widow of No. 52 Galo Street Bacolod City about 9:45
p.m. Saturday at Burgos-Hilado streets in the city.
Six big sachets of suspected shabu were recovered from the two women
who are now facing complaints for RA 9165, otherwise known as
Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and are now detained at the
lock-up cell of the CAIDSOTG at the BCPO headquarters.
Tanez claimed that the police took her P42,000 in cash that she said
she was supposed to give to her younger brother, who is engaged in
cock-fighting in Bacolod. Her two ATM cards from the Bank of the
Philippine Islands, and Equitable Bank were also taken by the police,
she also claimed.
Tanez and Descutido denied possessing shabu during their arrest and
said they are not engaged in drug pushing as alleged by the police.
Ponteras said the allegations of the two women are part of their
defensive moves to divert the issue.
Meanwhile, joint operatives of the 4th Provincial Mobile Group and the
Cauayan PNP raided the residence of Roberto Nunay 44, in Brgy.
Masaling Cauayan, Negros Occidental yesterday and recovered two
sachets of suspected shabu, and P1,523 cash.
The police were armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Lorenzo
Manaay of the Cauayan MTC.
