ONE MAN FOUND DEAD IN GROW-OP HOUSE

Neighbour Heard Series Of Bangs

Police Combing Keswick Home

York Region police arrived at a Georgina home to investigate a suspicious
death yesterday only to find the house was used as a marijuana grow operation.

Officers found the body of a man inside the residence on Ley Blvd. in
Keswick after a neighbour called police at 8 a.m.

The identity of the dead man has not been released.

Police cordoned off the street and residents, including groups of children,
watched as investigators worked on scene.

The neighbour, who didn't want to be named, said she was woken at 2 a.m. by
"a quick succession of bangs" which she thought were firecrackers. She then
heard "guttural sounds of yelling and screaming."

"When I got up to look, I saw the light on (in the house). There was
someone moving around inside," she said.

Her window overlooks the back of the brick bungalow where the body was
found. She added that she has never seen people in the house and has never
seen the lights on.

Later yesterday morning, her husband drove past the house. The garage door
was open and a van was in the driveway. A window had a hole the size of a
grapefruit in it, she said.

Local residents said the house's blinds were always drawn. One neighbour
said a family used to live there but sold the house a year and a half ago.
He's never seen the new owners.

Police canvassed the neighbourhood last night.

Police are asking people in the area to call 1-866-287-5025 or Crime
Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS if they saw anything suspicious there between
Tuesday and early Wednesday.
