MARIJUANA PLANTS FOUND ON WATER DISTRICT LAND
Palo Alto police officers uprooted 20 marijuana plants from Santa
Clara County Water District property along Adobe Creek Wednesday
afternoon after a county employee found them while working at the creek.
The man who told police he grew the plants owns a home nearby, and
said the plants were for medical purposes, said Police Lt. Ron Lawrence.
Police are consulting with officials in the District Attorney's office
about possible trespassing charges against the man, who hasn't been
named. They are also researching the authenticity of documents the man
said gave him permission to grow the plants.
``If the medical authorization is authentic, it's OK. If not, it's a
felony,'' Lawrence said. ``There's no happy medium.''
