PDEA CITES 'PEOPLE'S JOURNAL, ' HEROES OF ANTI-DRUG FIGHT
THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency has honored 25 officers and
individuals for their outstanding contribution to the government's
campaign against illegal drugs.
Among the awardees was People's Journal reporter Alfred Dalizon, who
was cited for his invaluable assistance to the PDEA's drug campaign
and information drive.
The People's Journal launched its text-a-pusher drive last year in a
bid to help curb the sale of illegal drugs.
Leading the awardees were Senior Insp. Jaime O. Santos of the Special
Enforcement Service who was chosen as PDEA's Best Field Officer, Chief
Insp. Rolando V. Bade of the Plans and Operations Service as Best
Staff Officer, Police Officer 1 Romeo R. Corpuz of the PDEA Regional
Office 12 as the Best Field Personnel, SPO4 Glenn I. Logan of the
Internal Affairs Service as Best Staff Personnel and Angelita D.
Adaliga of the Preventive Education and Community Involvement Service
as Best Non-Uniformed Personnel.
PDEA chief Undersecretary Anselmo S. Avenido, Jr. and newly appointed
Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto G. Romulo handed out the awards
during the 2nd anniversary celebration of the PDEA on Tuesday.
Others cited for their role in the successful anti-drugs drive
were:
PDEA plans and operations service headed by Senior Supt. Lina C.
Sarmiento as Best National Staff Service, Operational Support Service
under Supt. Leoncito C. Foncardas as Best National Support Service,
and PDEA Regional Office 2 headed by Supt. Wilkins M. Villanueva as
Best Regional Office.
Special awards were also given to former Interior and Local Government
Secretary Jose D. Lina Jr., former Sen. Robert Z. Barbers, Cebu Rep.
Antonio V. Cuenco, Quezon City, State Prosecutor Pabloc C. Formaran
III of the Department of Justice's National Prosecution Service,
Timothy C. Teal, the United States Drug Enforcement Administration's
Manila attache; Brian S. McDonald, the Australian Federal Police
senior liaison officer in the country; Consul General Guo Shaochun,
Consul General of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China; Armed
Forces chief of staff Gen. Narciso L. Abaya, Bureau of Customs
Commissioner Antonio M. Bernardo, Bureau of Immigration Commissioner
Alipio F. Fernandez Jr., National Bureau of Investigation Director
Reynaldo G. Wycoco, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office general
manager Rosario C. Oriarte, Philippine Coast Guard commandant, Vice
Admiral Arthur N. Gosingan; police chief Director General Hermogenes
E. Ebdane Jr., the Volunteers Against Cri me an d Corruption, the
Chinese-Filipino Business Club, Inc. headed by Pong Lam-Aw and the PNP
Press Corps headed by Raymond T. Africa.
