COPS IN SCHOOL DECISION COMES MONDAY
Whether or not police will be in school classrooms this fall will be
decided Monday night.
In the spring, the board approved - in principle - a plan that would
place a single police officer in each Kamloops school to work with
kids and to serve as a liaison between the RCMP and schools.
And at its first meeting since the beginning of July, the school board
will vote Monday on a protocol outlining the duties of the officer.
The protocol was developed during the summer, and if approved, it will
clear the way for RCMP to begin interviewing for the position.
The RCMP school liaison position will work with kids - putting on
established programs like the Drug Abuse Resistance Education - as
well as, providing a positive role model.
