FOR THE MISINFORMED
Dear Editor:
I'm not sure what Norman Ed Baskerville is referring to when he cites
"equally reliable research that contradicts" the Senate Special
Committee report on marijuana.
Citations (if they actually exist) would be helpful, but as I tracked
and even attended a hearing of the Senate committee in Vancouver, let
me provide a bit of insight.
The "research" presented by prohibitionist groups to the senators was
sketchy at best, and at times quite laughable. Then, there were
outright lies. After repeating discredited scare stories about
cannabis, the American Evangelical Christian group Focus on the Family
even tried to convince Senator Pat Carney that they are Canadian and
secular!
