OPP LAUNCH MARIJUANA FARM CAMPAIGN

Provincial police in Lanark County and Sharbot Lake are asking for
help with a concentrated push to eradicate outdoor marijuana farms.

The OPP said in a release that the two detachments will begin the
campaign in mid-August and run it into September.

They're hoping that anyone with information about a marijuana grow
operation will contact them and are assuring confidentiality for those
who want it.

A release from Lanark County OPP said outdoor marijuana grow-ops are
sometimes set up on large stretches of rural property without the
property owner knowing about them.

The OPP release encourages property owners to regularly check their
property and to report any suspicious activity to police.

Constables Chris Kettyle and Jeremy Empey are co-ordinating the
effort. Anyone with information can call them weekdays at the Lanark
County OPP detachment at 613-267-2626 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

After-hour callers can use the OPP's non-emergency number, which is
1-888-310-1122, and leave a voicemail message.

Crime Stoppers, which can be reached at 1-800-222-8477, provides cash
rewards for anonymous tips.
