DRUGS: THE KEY WORD IS 'TEAMWORK'

Want to know the difference teamwork makes? There's probably a lot of
prison-bound drug pushers from Bolivar County who can answer that
question for you.

Formerly, drug busts in Bolivar County seemed like rare news events.
Today, thanks to dedicated local, county and state officers, who make
up a drug task force, drug busts have almost become commonplace around
here.

The latest drug pusher to feel the heat is one who is now missing
several thousand dollars worth of marijuana, thanks to the team effort.

Working together, Cleveland Narcotics Investigator Charles "Buster"
Bingham and Sheriff Narcotics Investigator Joe Smith, along with
members of the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the Mississippi Bureau of
Narcotics and "Officer Ace," a dog with the K-9 Unit, uncovered a
cache of 50 or 60 pounds of marijuana stashed in a storage unit on
North Chrisman Ave.

It was a highly commendable effort, one that deserves the thanks of
Bolivar County residents. It certainly is good to see the difference
our law enforcement agencies are making as they work together instead
of in competition with each other.

It proves there really is great strength in unity, which is exactly
what's needed to remove the scourge of narcotics from our society.
That united effort has made Bolivar County a safer place in which to
live.

We definitely owe the members of the drug task force in Bolivar County
a debt of gratitude - all of us do, that is, except the addicts and
pushers.
