SHABU IN GENITALIA
The warden of the Bagong Buhay Rehabilitation Center (BBRC), Supt. Nestor
Velasquez, needs to come up with a better reason for the presence of shabu
inside the jail than what he told a panel of legislators last Sunday.
For one, the quantity of the drugs seized, 350 decks in just one "brigada"
or cell, is difficult to reconcile with the manner the items were supposed
to be smuggled in.
This was how Velasquez described the process: women visitors hide packets
of shabu inside a condom and insert it inside the genitalia.
But how many packets of shabu can a woman hold in his genitalia? How many
women are needed to smuggle in a large volume of shabu? With the strict
inspection measures in BBRC, how many times can shabu in genitalia be
missed by the guards?
The point is, while it is possible that shabu can be smuggled inside the
BBRC the way Velasquez described it, it could not be the only method. Or is
the shabu in genitalia claim but a smokescreen for the bigger problem that
the warden wants to hide?
A big quantity of shabu able to get inside the jail is actually consistent
with suspicions of either collusion between drug traffickers and jail
authorities or some jail people themselves moonlighting as drug peddlers.
This should therefore have been the bigger concern of Velasquez and other
probers. The problem is that they seem to be looking the other way or are
not looking intently at the most probable suspects, an actuation that
should merit public suspicion.
