EX-BOMBER WINS BAIL IN CRYSTAL-METH CASE

Former Winnipeg Blue Bomber Eddie (Earthquake) Blake was granted bail
yesterday afternoon, along with four other people arrested in a massive
crystal meth bust. Blake, a former lineman for the Bombers, was one of 17
people arrested or charged last Wednesday, after police busted a crystal
meth ring and seized $14.5 million worth of drugs.

He faces charges of conspiring to produce methamphetamines and possessing
and transferring a restricted weapon. For the last few days, the Crown
suggested it would oppose his release on bail.

But it was a different story in court yesterday, when the Crown consented
to Blake's release -- along with the release of four others still in
custody -- providing the men adhere to a strict set of bail conditions.

Blake was released on his own recognizance in the amount of $50,000 and a
surety in the same sum. He was also required to post $40,000 cash up front.

His bail conditions require him to stay in the province, surrender his
passport, make personal appearances in court and abide by a curfew between
midnight and 8 a.m.

Outside the hours of the curfew, he's only allowed out of the house for
work purposes or for medical emergencies. He was ordered not to go to
airports, train stations, bus stations or the U.S. border and was
prohibited from possessing a long list of weapons.

Blake has publicly denied involvement with the drug ring. He told The Sun
last week "I'm innocent of all these charges, with the exception of one."

Blake admitted he had a loaded handgun in his home when it was searched but
claimed police advised him to purchase the weapon after he received three
death threats in the last year.

Blake was one of 10 Manitobans charged in the bust, which netted police
more than 20,000 pounds of ephedrine -- a main ingredient in the illegal
drug methamphetamine. They also seized approximately $3.5 million in cash.
