COMBAT DISCRIMINATION

The Sept. 21 story regarding U.S. District Judge Michael Mosman's decision
to uphold Freightliner's firing of John Thomas based solely on his
registration with Oregon's Medical Marijuana Program neglects to mention
that this is a problem with the current law that Ballot Measure 33 would
correct ("Marijuana case ruling overturned," Sept. 21).

This statutory amendment would continue to allow employers to maintain a
safe workplace by enforcing rules that prohibit being impaired on the job.
It would prevent employers, however, from continuing to discriminate
against workers simply because of their status as registered medical
marijuana patients.

All Oregonians opposed to discrimination in the workplace ought to vote
"yes" on Ballot Measure 33.
