POT PLANTS REACH NEW HEIGHTS
GLENGARRY - Marijuana plants seized in this Pictou County community were as
tall as Christmas trees, police say.
Pictou County and Truro RCMP, as well as police from New Glasgow and
Trenton, found about 250 of the towering plants.
The growing operation included two cultivated plots of land, an old school
bus used to dehydrate harvested plants, a complex irrigation system and a
large quantity of marijuana.
A surveillance team saw people moving around the site off Concord Road
early Thursday morning and moved in to arrest them.
Three men, two from Stellarton and one from New Glasgow, were caught inside
a barn allegedly used for cutting the dried plants.
A fourth man, from New Glasgow, was arrested at work.
Charges of growing marijuana and possessing it for trafficking are pending
against all four.
They were released on a promise to appear in New Glasgow provincial court
Nov. 15.
