Discarded labs serious danger

Beware what you might find along roadways is the latest word
from law enforcement.

Sequoyah County Sheriff's Department reported finds of discarded or
working methamphetamine drug labs along roads and highways and in
wooded areas this month. Illegal meth producers evidently are hiding
them away from their homes and places of production or simply
discarding the materials.

Someone discovering one of these meth labs should use extreme caution.
The labs, according to law officers, contain usually toxic chemicals
and tainted containers, which may hold dangerous fumes. Officers also
warn, the discarded and hidden labs may contain other dangerous drug
paraphernalia, such as syringes, which may transmit communicable diseases.

Parents should warn their children to avoid contact with anything
suspicious, and anyone seeing illegal dumping or finding what they
think may be a meth lab should call his or her county sheriff's office.

Unfortunately, those who are unconcerned for the law and other's
safety make life more difficult and dangerous for the
law-abiding.
