MOST ADDICTS DON'T WANT HELP, THEY JUST WANT US TO FUEL THEIR HABIT
I'm responding to the articles in Friday's Province about Vancouver's
safe-injection site.
First I read Joey Thompson's column about how easily the drug addicts get
drugs on the streets of Vancouver.
Then I turned a couple of pages further and read Stuart Hunter's story
under the headline, "First year is 'excellent' for injection site."
There are 600 injections a day. Are they going back for seconds? And now
they want to expand it for crack cocaine smokers too. Like this will solve
the problem.
Sounds like it's encouraging the problem.
Face it, most of the addicts don't want to help themselves and, while we
waste money fuelling the habit for them, things will get worse.
So stop giving them drugs and start giving them a hard time so they may
think, "forget this" and do something for themselves in order to to get out
from under their difficulties.
Recovered addict Barry Joneson is proof it works.
