MOSELEY SCHOOLS BRING IN DOGS TO SEARCH STUDENTS' LOCKERS

COLCORD - Student concerns about a drug problem at Moseley Public
School prompted administrators to invite police dogs to screen
lockers. Superintendent Holly Davis didn't say what students told
district administrators, but stressed that she and the school's staff
took their concerns seriously.

A Delaware County narcotics officer and two K-9 officers from Mayes
County conducted the sweep of approximately 100 lockers belonging to
students in fifth through eighth grades at the school, law officers
said.

The older students were sent outside to sit in the football field
bleachers while the sweep occurred.

In one student's locker the dogs singled out, school administrators
found a gram of marijuana, police and school officials said. In
another, the administrators found a quarter-ounce bag of what turned
out to be oregano.

Neither student was taken into custody, but both were suspended by the
district, Davis said.
