DON'T ABET ADDICTION
Re: City 'abetting' drug users, Cullen fears, Oct. 8.
It is unfortunate the city feels it needs to distribute drug
paraphernalia to keep down the costs of treating addicts. It is also
unfortunate that our society (that is, taxpayers) must pay for the
treatment of people who have brought these circumstances upon themselves.
We need to be caring and compassionate toward those in trouble. We
need to educate and help them overcome their difficulties. But we
certainly should not make it easier for addicts to continue with their
addictions.
