FALSE CLAIMS ABOUT METHADONE
Re. the letter by Richard Skelskey Oct. 5, to say that Methadone is
not sedating or intoxicating is false. Methadone is a mood-changing,
mind-altering drug. Treating a true addict with Methadone is like
telling a manic depressive to just cheer up. It's like treating a
diabetic with Twinkies.
Why doesn't Mr. Skelskey suggest that addicts seek recovery through a
12-step program that teaches complete abstinence from all drugs? These
programs are free except for a $1 donation to keep meetings open.
