LEGALIZE, REGULATE, AND TAX CANNABIS
I loved Gary Dunford's piece, "Join Monte's power rangers" (Oct. 10).
It comedically illustrates how we now live in a country where we are
encouraged to be paranoid and suspicious of anyone who is even a
little different. Monte Kwinter's idea for thwarting pot-growers is as
half-baked as the idea that prohibition might actually work someday.
Whether it is the federal or the provincial Liberals, they just can't
seem to stop being underhanded and sneaky. By prohibiting pot growing,
you make it lucrative. The more you prohibit, the more lucrative it
is. However, if you regulate it, you can control and tax it. But I
guess both the federal and provincial Liberals would rather subsidize
organized crime and steal money from the taxpayers than actually do
the will of the people and legalize, regulate, and tax cannabis. Makes
one wonder just which side of the law the Liberals are on.
