MEDICAL MARIJUANA HELPS DAUGHTER IN STRUGGLE
WITH INCURABLE DISEASE
My lovely adult daughter has a disease called gastroparesis, or paralyzed
intestine. The natural movement that pushes food down the intestinal tract
is gone. There is no known cure. She had a feeding tube for over a year
that had to come out due to infection. Every time she eats she has to
vomit, sometimes as quick as 10 minutes after, sometime as long as two
hours ... but it will come back up. Can you imagine what her life is like?
Except when she has marijuana!
When she has marijuana she can keep her food down all night. But she has to
be a lawbreaker to make this happen. Often it is unavailable . and always
expensive. When that happens she vomits so much she dehydrates and has to
go to the hospital for infusions of fluids. She has tried Marinol pills
(synthetic THC, which is the active ingredient in cannabis), but when she
is nauseated, she can't keep it down long enough to see if it'll help. The
only concern her doctor has about her use of marijuana is for her lungs. He
knows how much it helps with the vomiting.
Please show your compassion. Vote yes on 2.
