MARIJUANA ISSUE
To the editor:
The passage of Ballot Measure 2 would not benefit the state of
Alaska.
I'm in a locked institution for crimes committed under the influence
of marijuana. I was psychologically addicted to it. I have come to an
understanding that the drug has ruined my life.
I have been away from my family more than I should have, the whole 17
years I've been alive. I've been in and out of treatment centers, and
a locked institution is a last resort due to continuous patterns of
criminal behavior. This isn't a way I should be living my life but
marijuana has caused a majority of it.
Marijuana impairs the thinking of the brain and causes poor judgment.
It causes a lack of interest in school and interferes with memory and
motivation. If Ballot Measure 2 is passed, we're enabling the young to
think it's OK and would lead to the use of other substances.
