134 FOREIGNERS FACE DRUG CASES IN RP, RECORDS SHOW

THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and other support agencies
have arrested a total of 134 foreign nationals for illegal drug, PDEA
Director General Anselmo Avenido said Sunday.

The arrests of 134 aliens were made from August to December in 2002 and
January to September in 2004.

Arrested in August to December 2002 were 13 foreign nationals - two
Americans, three Chinese, two Indonesians, two Taiwanese, one Brazilian,
one German, one Japanese and one Korean.

There were 72 foreign nationals arrested in 2003. They are composed of 51
Chinese; six Taiwanese; four Americans; three Pakistanis; one Australian,
Austrian, British, Canadian, Japanese, Israeli, Jordanian and another one
from Hong Kong.

From January to September 2004, 49 foreign nationals were arrested. They
were 20 Chinese, seven Americans, three British, three Indonesians, three
Japanese, three Koreans, two French, two Malaysians, one Australian, one
Canadian, one Dutch, one Egyptian, one Iranian and one Lebanese.

Avenido said the other law enforcement agencies involved in the anti-drug
campaign are the PNP, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and Bureau of
Customs (BOC).
