A.S.S. PAC REPORT
The student elections are now completely over and there was a majority vote
in favor of the Drug Free Zone Program.
Now steps are being taken to bring this program into realization. The
Students Council will be involved with informing the community, as well as
all the students, about the implications that will occur once this program
is fully implemented. The administration is pleased with the students'
decisions to go forward with this agenda. Plans to help guide them into a
smooth transition are underway. This program will have a positive effect on
the community, especially for anyone residing within this zone which will
include the entire area within a two-block radius around the school.
Information pamphlets will be developed and handed out throughout the
community explaining the full implications of this Zone. The target date
for full implementation is Feb. 1, 2005.
Thank you to all of you who made it possible for the Grade 8s to experience
a day at work. Mrs. Val Gillis is very pleased with the results. Now she
will need help for the Grade 11s who will be practicing how to go through
job interviews. This target date will be Nov. 5. If you can help give this
type of experience to the Grade 11s, you are asked to call the school at
453-9144.
This week we are acknowledging the hard work of the daytime maintenance
workers who have been putting in a lot of hard work trying to teach the
students to respect school property. This includes keeping an eagle eye on
the students during lunch hour where there was a problem with both food and
wrappers being thrown onto the floor. The workers have been patient and
firm and their vigilance is paying off as we continually see clean
surroundings. Your efforts are leading to building school pride and we
thank you.
