SEVERE INJURIES INFLICTED IN WRONG-ADDRESS GROW RIP
Surrey RCMP have released photos that show the horrific injuries
inflicted on the elderly victims of a home invasion earlier this month.
A spokesman said Mounties are hoping the people responsible or someone
who knows them will have enough of a conscience to come forward and
reveal who carried out the violent attack inside a residence in the
14600 block of 107 Ave. in Surrey on the evening of Oct. 18.
The husband and wife who own the house were attacked after they
surprised a group of intruders in the act of breaking into their home.
The 87-year-old man suffered cuts to his head and face that required
46 stitches to close, as well as three broken ribs and bruises all
over his body.
The 84-year-old woman suffered a cut to her face, a black eye and a
broken nose from a blow which rendered her unconscious at the time.
Both victims have been released from the hospital, but remain
emotionally traumatized by their ordeal, police said.
One of the suspects is described as a Caucasian male, 5' 10" to 6' in
height with dark hair.
The attackers left a clue behind - a black ball cap with an "LA
Lakers" logo on the front, embroidered in black lettering.
Investigators believe the attack was a misdirected "grow rip" by
criminals who thought the house was being used to cultivate marijuana
and wrongfully targeted the address.
Police stated the elderly couple did not have a marijuana grow
operation, nor have they ever had one.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Cpl.
H. Manning at Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502, or call Crime Stoppers at
1-800-222-TIPS.
