EUHARLEE STUDENTS SING AGAINST DRUGS

Smiling faces, excited whispers and anticipation is felt on Euharlee
campus. It is a special occasion and all the children are aware of the
importance of their time from classes. They have practiced for the program
focusing on drug awareness (Red Ribbon Week Oct. 25-29) and the songs they
practiced for the occasion.

Judy Johnson walks to the center of the front campus and asks the children
if they are ready. "Yes!" is the reply. "A, B, C, D ." one little boy
begins and his classmate whispers, "that's wrong." A look, shake of the
head and his attention is turned elsewhere. "Don't play with the ant," a
teacher quietly speaks.

Again, Judy asks if everyone is ready. This time, the music fills the air
and little bodies follow the words and "say boo to drugs" as they hop, clap
and wiggle their bodies to the melody's beat. "I will hop, wiggle and jump
against drugs I will stay healthy and free," a number of children sing.

Meanwhile, the little boy is still singing what is evidently his favorite.
He continues with "A, B, C, D" as he watches teachers unwind red twine.

The red string is given to each child to hold until every class is joined
in a united front against drugs.

"It has been a great week," said Principal Judy Wiggins. "Each day has been
filled with special activities. We have enjoyed learning and sharing
through awareness."

On Monday, everyone at Euharlee wore red ribbons. Tuesday was "Too Cool For
Drugs" and sunglass was the favored item. "Hugs Not Drugs" was the focus on
Wednesday when the children brought their favorite stuffed animal to
school. Thursday was wear red day and Friday was observed as "Sock It To
Drugs Day" when everyone wore silly socks.

National Red Ribbon week serves as a tribute to Special Agent Enrique
"Kiki" Camarena, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
