CLARKESVILLE ELEMENTARY CELEBRATES RED RIBBON WEEK

Clarkesville Elementary School celebrated Red Ribbon Week Oct. 25-29.
Students at Clarkesville Elementary School enjoyed a week full of
activities to promote drug free and healthy choices. Students participated
in daily activities, such as dressing backwards on Monday. The message was
for everyone to turn their back on drugs. They were encouraged to write
poems and make posters. Videos were shown and character education words
were integrated into the anti-drug campaign.

Perhaps one of the biggest highlights of the week was a visit from Wendy
and Arno. These drug-sniffing dogs are employees of the Habersham County
Sheriff's Department. Sgt. Bryan Wright and Sgt. Matt Wurtz, along with
their partners, encouraged students to say yes to a drug -free life.

October was National Crime Prevention month and school officials said they
appreciate the daily efforts of all officers in keeping the community free
from the ravages of drug trafficking and drug abuse.
