RANDOM DRUG TESTING PROMOTES BETTER LEARNING
To supplement The Sun Herald's Red Ribbon Week articles regarding drug
abuse, I share my opinion on drug testing.
Gulfport High School utilizes random drug testing to reduce illegal drug
use by students. This program's goal is to deter drug use at GHS, which
will promote a healthy and safe learning environment. Recently, I learned
of this program first-hand by being selected for random testing.
Consequences of illegal drug use among high school students make this
program necessary. For example, drug use would cause violent behavior on
the campus. Student attendance and comprehension would be negatively
affected by illegal drug activity.
Drug testing at GHS encourages students to be drug-free. Drug testing
teaches teens to live apart from the world's negative influences.
