DRUG BUST IN VV DQ

Cooke County Sheriff Mike Compton would like to put drug users and
sellers on notice.

"Hunting season's on and it's a no bag limit," he said.

Monday evening, Cooke County Sheriff Investigator Shane Norie arrested
a Denton County man at the Valley View Dairy Queen for
manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance over 4 grams under 200
grams. Norie arrested James Sexton, 17, for possessing 9.1 grams of
cocaine, which was separated into two plastic baggies, after he
assisted Valley View Chief J. Landry on a call at the restaurant.

"It is part of our on-going battle against drugs -- us and the city,"
Compton said of the drug bust. "We will continue our efforts the best
we can with arresting people. We're not going to stop, we're not going
to quit."

In July, Gainesville city officials and Cooke County officials
declared a war on methamphetamine manufacturing and use in the county.
Since then there have been several substantial busts, not only of
methamphetamine, but also of crack cocaine (rock form of cocaine) and
cocaine (powder).

Compton compared the drug manufacturers to fire ants, which when faced
with extermination move onto another pasture.

"We would like to destroy them in our pasture," he said.

Compton said law enforcement officials will use every legal means
possible to eradicate the illegal drug trade in Cooke County.

"They better be looking over their shoulder," Compton warned the drug
dealers. "They're going to turn around one day and we'll be standing
there, we or the city."
