POLICE CONSTABLE CHARGED WITH DRUG-RELATED OFFENCES
A Toronto Police Service officer appeared in court in Brampton
yesterday, charged with trafficking in marijuana, conspiracy,
obstruction and breach of trust. Constable John Tewogbade, 26, is one
of eight Toronto-area people charged with an array of drug-related
offences after an eight-month investigation.
Most of the alleged offences occurred in Brampton, but a marijuana
growing operation in Toronto was shut down, yielding more than 500
plants.
Cocaine, hashish, anabolic steroids, psychoactive mushrooms and a
replica handgun were seized, police said.
Mr. Tewogbade, attached to 13 Division, has been a police officer for
less than four years. Released on an undertaking yesterday, he has
been suspended with pay.
