FORMER MP STEPS DOWN FROM DPNC POST

Former Abbotsford MP Randy White has stepped down as president of the
Drug Prevention Network of Canada (DPNC).

White, who decided not to run as Abbotsford's Conservative Party
candidate in the 2006 federal election, announced on Wednesday that
he would be replaced by "long-term drug policy specialist" Ben Jenkins.

Before taking his position as DPNC president in 2006, White served
Abbotsford voters in Ottawa for 12 years. He was succeeded by current
Conservative MP Ed Fast.

Jenkins, from Halifax/Dartmouth, is said to have 40 years experience
in substance abuse issues.

He is a 25 year veteran of the RCMP, developing the RCMP Drug
Awareness Program for Ontario in the 1980s. He is also a funding
director of the Drug Prevention Network of the Americas and the Drug
Prevention Network of Canada.

"The Drug Prevention Network of Canada has affiliates and associates
around the globe and is very active throughout Canada expanding its
goal of promoting effective prevention and treatment policies" said
White, a short time before leaving his post.

The DPNC's mandate includes speaking out against the use of illegal
drugs and the abuse of legal substances including alcohol, tobacco
and solvents.

It has a mission to "carry out a leadership role in providing
accurate and scientifically validated information to assist Canadians
in making well-informed decisions in the areas of prevention,
treatment and education."
