DRUG MONEY
To The Editor:
Ms. Monnet ask why can't the 'Border Patrol give drug bust money to
the Ogdensburg Neighborhood Center, Catholic Charities, Habitat for
Humanity, or after school programs in our area' (Drug Bust Money
Ogdensburg Advance News Nov. 7).
While the above programs struggle to help the needy, the border patrol
has handed local law enforcement agencies over quarter of a million
dollars so far this year
Maybe its time communities get a full audit of their law enforcement's
share of seized money and ask for a decrease in taxes. The article Ms.
Monnet refers to states the Potsdam police department got $10,998.48.
The article did not mention the $40,952.92 Potsdam police received
July 21. July 29 local state police received $68, 663. All the
recipients of the seizure money are on tax supported budgets!
The " due process' the Constitution guarantees St. Lawrence County
residents is now determined guilty by the bark of a dog.
