LEGALIZE ALL DRUGS
Regarding the Viewpoint ["Drug awareness essential," August 1] ". . .
drug dealers who exploit the vulnerable can only be stopped if the
RCMP are given sufficient information from the public and support from
the courts to do their job."
Oh yes, and how about those others who exploit the vulnerable, such as
bar tenders, psychiatrists, tobacco farmers, slum landlords, casino
owners and lottery managers? Should we jail them too?
Clearly, drugs are not prohibited by government to protect the
vulnerable, otherwise the above professions would be under attack by
the authorities. Drugs are prohibited to increase the power and
budgets of the police and to provide wealthy politicians and newspaper
editors with opportunities to call for never-ending crackdowns on the
poor.
Let's end the facade. Let's legalize all drugs.
