GROW-OP BYLAW EYED
City staff want permission from Kelowna city council to produce a so-called
"grow-op" bylaw.
Acting city clerk Stephen Fleming is recommending staff conduct policy
research and consult interested parties before presenting a potential bylaw
to council.
Fleming said staff have already looked at similar bylaws in Chilliwack,
North Vancouver, Surrey and Vancouver as well as Penticton although that
bylaw has yet not passed third reading.
In his recommendation to council, Fleming said agreement amongst interested
parties is critical.
"For such a bylaw to be successful there must be consensus as to the best
course of action to take," he said.
Given that, a grow-op bylaw is unlikely before early 2005.
