P5.8-M MARIJUANA PLANTS BURNED IN BENGUET, MAGUINDANAO
AUTHORITIES burned 5.8 million pesos worth of marijuana plants in separate
operations over the weekend, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)
said Monday.
In Kapangan town, Benguet province, 20,000 marijuana plants were destroyed,
the PDEA said in a statement.
Meanwhile, 9,000 marijuana plants were also destroyed in Matnog town,
Maguindanao province, it said.
The operations came amid calls in Congress to legalize marijuana use for
medicinal purposes.
